Hi there! I am Jens, one of the founders of Limen PsyAssist. Building this practice has been a dream of mine for quite some time and is based on my own observations and what I learned from clients about their average mental health care experiences.

My vision on therapy is that it should be more than merely providing questionnaires leading to labels and based on this trying to force symptoms out of someone in a one-size-fits-all way. Based on a growing body of scientific evidence I am convinced that an eclectic approach tailored to someone’s unique features offers the most effective therapy and that the focus should be on the source of symptoms to make them decline instead of just trying to fight them. This way, therapy offers the unique chance to understand yourself better, validate your experiences without judgement and stigma and grow towards a version of you and your life that might only be a far fetched vision at the moment.

After many years of working with clients in an ambulant setting I have yet to see a case where the issues someone experiences in the here and now are not logically explainable by fitting human adaptation to circumstances in the past that is no longer needed. However, instead of seeing it this way, many often blame themselves, are convinced that they are not as good “at life” as others and try to accept that nothing might ever change. At Limen PsyAssist it is my goal to provide a unique journey for clients so they can experience that change is indeed possible, and that this process can also be exciting.

Next to working as psychologist and practice owner I am also a lecturer at Leiden University where I teach at the Clinical Department, love to go on hikes with my highly energetic dog, enjoy building things and have a passion for IT and diy electronics.
